Ideally placed for sightseeing and activities, this former ancient mill house is central to Foix, Pamiers, Lavelanet and Mirepoix.
Within 20 minutes drive you will find many highly recommended beauty spots, including the waterfalls at Roquefort les Cascades, Lac Montbel, the ancient town of Mirepoix and two magnificent Cathar monuments – Montsegur and Roquefixade. Walking and cycling are two of the main activities. Alternatives include canoeing, skiing, pony trekking or horse riding, tennis, sailing (Lac Montbel), climbing, abseiling, parapenting and gliding, mountain train rides, golf, karting and 4x4 Tag Along Tours.
All of our bedrooms are light and airy and benefit from picturesque views of the surrounding hills and countryside. We invite you to join us for evening meals. Open all year.

The Kings Room:
Our most opulent room, featuring a king-size four-poster bed, is elegantly dressed in royal blue and gold fleur-de-lys fabrics. The King's Room enjoys beautiful views to the rear of the residence, and has shared bathroom facilities.
The Queens Room:
The brightest room of the house, benefiting from picturesque views to the front and side of the residence, is decorated with a delightful 'toile de jouy' wallscape featuring French country life. The room has its own washbasin facilities and has shared bathroom facilities. This room has provision for an extra bed.
The Princess Room (Twin with en-suite):
A charming room, decorated in a beautiful combination of florals and stripes in true French provincial style. The room features two 90x200cm single beds, plus private en-suite facilities including a two-person shower. The Princess Room enjoys a view over the courtyard and gardens. Provision can be made for an additional bed.
The Prince's Room:
The Prince's Room is a spacious, mellow room decorated in a blend of neutrals and linens with a stunning view of the surrounding hills and woodland. Shaded from the heat of the sun through most of the day, the Prince’s room remains cool even in the height of summer. In the evening you get a perfect view of the sun setting behind Carla church.
The Prince’s Room features a king size metal-framed bed with space for an additional bed and cot if required, making it a great room for a couple or family. This room has shared bathroom facilities.
The Bathroom:
Newly fitted modern take on colonial French, the facilities in the bathroom include a washbasin, toilet and walk-in shower. This light and airy room is cleaned daily to a high standard.

Your stay at La Maison includes a full continental breakfast. Included in the breakfast are patisserie products such as croissants and bread (supplied by our local delivery lady), affectionately know as "Madame Baguette".

Our living and dining area overlooks both The Courtyard and the stunning views to the pech (hill) at the front of the La Maison de Roquefort. The living and dining areas offer a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. This room is a television free zone, to ensure your stay remains as peaceful and enjoyable as possible.

Our courtyard and garden offer both stunning views and privacy when required. We offer dining facilities in The Courtyard in order that our guests may appreciate the scenery.

Attractions Roquefort les Cascades: Less than 5 minutes drive from the house, waterfalls cascade down the cliff side onto rocks worn smooth over time.
Montsegur: The last stronghold of the Cathars, Montsegur fell to the catholic crusaders in 1278. Whilst the last section is steep, the walk up is well worth the effort. If a leisurely walk is more your style you can see Montsegur from our church square in Carla De Roquefort. The church nestles on a hilltop and is a favourite spot to catch the sunset or sunrise.
Roquefixade: The panoramic view from this ancient Cathar monument is absolutely stunning. To your left you can see Montsegur, framed by majestic Monts D’Olmes . To your right the hills of the Soula valley with a backdrop of the snow-capped Pyrenees. Walkers & mountain bikers can take the official trail from the house to Roquefixade over the adjoining valley.
Mirepoix: Dating back to 1279, the main square is typical of the region’s “bastides”, with its rows of ancient timbered houses forming galleries. It’s a great place to sit and soak up the atmosphere with a café noir or a glass of wine. |
